About Spanish Trail
Overview and history
Spanish Trail was founded in 1984 as Las Vegas' first completely private, walled-in golf course community, and its developers drew inspiration from Palm Desert, California. The Spanish Trail Master Association traces the community's origins to Joe and Mary Blasco, who envisioned a private community on land they owned. The name comes from the historic Old Spanish Trail route through the Las Vegas Valley. In the mid-1980s the club hosted the PGA Tour's Las Vegas Invitational.
Location and getting around
Spanish Trail is bounded by Tropicana Avenue on the north, Hacienda Avenue on the south, Rainbow Boulevard on the east and Durango Drive on the west. It sits in unincorporated Clark County with a Las Vegas 89113 mailing address, and the club, at 5050 Spanish Trail Lane, puts it about 6 miles from the Strip. Entry is through a guard-staffed main gate, and roving patrol vehicles cover the community at all hours.
Spanish Trail Country Club
The club's 27 private holes were designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and play as three nines, Sunrise, Lakes and Canyon, that combine into three 18-hole layouts. The clubhouse was renovated in 2007, a project that included Chihuly glass chandeliers, and it serves dining seven days a week. Other club facilities include:
- A tennis center with 12 lighted courts, including a tournament court with stadium seating, plus a pro shop and lessons
- A fitness center with pickleball courts
- Two heated pool pavilions with jacuzzis; the west pool is open year-round and the east pool from April to October
The country club is run separately from the homeowners associations, so buyers who want to play the course or use the club facilities should ask the club about membership. Browse golf course homes in Spanish Trail.
Homes and neighborhoods
Spanish Trail is divided into 12 neighborhoods. Homes range from townhomes and semi-custom single-family homes of about 2,000 to 4,000 square feet up to custom estates, and some of the largest estates sit behind additional gates with their own codes. Architecture is largely 1980s and 1990s Mediterranean with few design restrictions, set among mature trees, lagoons and heavy landscaping, so homes vary widely in size, age and updates. With a dozen neighborhoods and product types from townhomes to estates, compare the neighborhood, lot, square footage and remodeling history on each listing. See gated homes in Spanish Trail.
HOA structure
The Spanish Trail Master Association covers the whole community, and each of the 12 neighborhoods also has its own homeowners association, so total dues depend on the neighborhood. The country club is a separate entity from the HOAs. Right now the median total monthly HOA dues on listings is $775.
